![]() ![]() We also took the kids to the petting zoo to feed some goats before having some donuts (which we watched being made that morning) and then picking out a few pumpkins to take home. We got some more of a maze fix in the Pirate Maze for a bit before dropping by the spider web, getting a pretzel, and visiting the Storybook Village. Then we went through the Corn Maze together as a family for the first time, which was a bit of an adventure, but I had the map on my phone that helped us get through fairly easily (much to Hannah’s irritation). We hit the obstacle course next, took a swing at a “ high striker” or two, before taking a few trips down the Big Slide. We hit the schoolhouse, the haunted house, and the Big Chair before going down to Prairie Hill Town, where the kids got to run on a hamster wheel ( as did I) and run around a bit more. We got some time on slides and a tractor before going to see Xander the Dragon, and Hannah and Aaron got a few balloon bracelets from an old Jitterbug friend along the way. We headed back for some Pig Races around one, and Hannah got to be a Pig Leader this time. We got some fries for lunch before taking a dip in the corn bin, where I helped Hannah and Aaron get completely buried. We did the jumping pillows after that and checked out the duck races before taking a few spins around the Highway 6 bike track - both on the family cart and individually (even Vivian). ![]() We’re old pros at seeing all the attractions and had it down to a science by now - hitting Bunnyville and the Pumpkin Mine first before doing some trikes and then catching a Train Ride while the line was short. The kids have been to Vala’s every year of their lives so far, and Hannah said it was her favorite day outside of Christmas and her birthday. How does it work for your kids (or you)? Well, their enjoyment may vary. Then on Tuesday, I took the day off so we could spend a day at Vala’s on their Homeschool Day. This fun drink is something I would get again for sure. #Applejack festival 2019 crackerNeither of them liked the graham cracker topping and were out on it before we got to the apple pie filling. Surprisingly, Anna and Elsa didn’t like the drink. The filling strikes me as too big to suck up through a straw. So, the real question is, why aren’t they serving this with a spoon or straw? I genuinely think it needs a spoon so you can scoop up the apple filling and eat all of it together. I was able to take the last few drinks with the pie filling, and I thought it was excellent. Why? Well because there is a healthy dose of apple pie filling in the bottom of the glass. After that, I was a little more careful about how I drank the “pie.” As I drank more of it, I liked the flavor more, but it didn’t really hit a high note for me until I got near the bottom. With my first drink, I got a hefty dusting of the graham cracker topping stuck in the back of my throat, which caused me to cough quite a bit. The frozen apple pie drink at Appleseed Orchard is something that I have to say grew on me as I drank it. I didn’t find it to be as heavy as a cabernet or other reds. The wine tasted sweet, but not overly sweet, with pleasant hints of fruit. I’m not a wine aficionado, I just know what tastes good to me. ![]() I’d also say the same thing about the Conundrum Red Blend. The more adventurous the flavors were, the less apt the kids were to eat it.Īt $6.50, I thought the charcuterie plate at Appleseed Orchard was definitely worth the price and is something I would eat again. That’s a better good value and in retrospect, something I should have ordered.Īs far as kids go, Anna and Elsa both surprisingly enjoyed eating the meats on the plate. Yes, they are smaller pours, but you get three different wines for effectively a couple of bucks more. I should note that if you are going to get wine with this or just in general, you get more value by ordering a wine flight. The wine cost $6, which feels a little pricey for a small pour, but as I said, it paired so well with the plate I can justify it. I ordered a pour of the Conundrum Red Blend with this plate and thought it was an excellent pairing. Especially the ones where the syrup pairs well with it. The crackers are basic, but what makes this plate shine is the meats and cheeses. This charcuterie plate features an assortment of meats and cheeses to sample, along with water crackers.
